Knee Replacement Recovery What Is The Recovery Like After Knee Replacement Surgery?

What is the recovery like after Knee replacement surgery? - knee replacement recovery

My mother has just returned from a knee replacement surgery, with little or no information on the recovery. If someone has a idea what to expect after can give would be great. (ie, physio-long move in the house, Walker vs. sugar cane, etc. ..)

  1. It is difficult to say much about the prognosis, no further details, but the chances are that if it directly to your home it is quite well sent. From my experience, patients with total knee replacement in severe pain, especially during the first week. This is often reinforced by foot, and the movement at the end of the scale. It does not feel comfortable on your back with your right leg, but it is important not to put a little below the knee to avoid contractures. Swelling is also expected, especially around the knee, but IIR, the calf is swollen and very painful, an increase from baseline (), then you should probably return to the emergency room to get the heart net.

As for the physiotherapy and wait at least a few weeks. In general, the goal is up to the knee at least a little about the right angle to bend and recover almost completely. Progress will be on the stiffness of the leg pain and swelling down, and comorbidities and general health.

With respect to the walking aid if it Walking, a little before they rapidly progress from a walker to a cane to nothing, depending on your pain. If you need a walking aid before progress could be slower.

Hope this helps. Unfortunately I can not say much, he does not know what to answer her mother or her situation, but the therapist must be able to all your questions.

Note: This is only my personal experience, and not professional advice.
